What is Global Warming?
It is a term usually referring to the constantly increasing global average temperature over the last 100 years or so due to human activities, and the climate change related with that increase in temperature.
What is the big deal with Global Warming?
Previous changes in the world’s climate have been caused by natural phenomena like variations in the distance of the earth from the sun and so forth. But this time it is caused by man made emission of greenhouse gases. The consequences of Global Warming cannot be predicted with a great sense of certainty; what can be predicted with great certainty is that the overall consequences of Global Warming will be highly disastrous in many aspects to the entire global community, although some will obviously suffer more than others. Global Warming is irreversible and we have only so much time to act to prevent the worst consequences of it. Although the consequences are not clear, it is certain that they will be huge, irreversible and disastrous because thanks to data gathered by many different groups of scientists all over the world, we have seen how climate change has affected the planet in the past.
